Deguchi Pal Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the app Deguchi Pal for Android and iOS. The online shop is covered by the shop's privacy policy. This is a translation. In case of doubt, the German version applies.

2. In short
Deguchi Pal works without an account, without our own server, without ads and without analytics or tracking. Everything you create in the app stays on your device. As the provider, we do not receive any personal data from the app and have no access to your game progress, your photos or your drawings.
3. Storage on your device
The app stores your game locally on your device, for example your Pals and their names, your progress, your drawings, the pictures you picked yourself and your settings. This data is not transmitted to us. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear the app data in your device settings.
If you have turned on your operating system's backup (for example Android backup in your Google account or iCloud), the operating system may back up the app data in your own account. You control this in your device settings. We have no access to it.
4. Photos from your gallery
You can choose to pick a photo from your gallery, for example as a face for a Pal or as a design on a shirt. The app only receives the pictures you pick yourself. A copy is stored in the app on your device. The pictures are never uploaded. Without this permission the app keeps working, just without your own photos.
5. Camera
The app only uses the camera to scan QR codes when someone sends you their Pal. The camera image is processed on your device in that moment only. It is neither stored nor transmitted. Without this permission the app keeps working, just without trading Pals by scanning.
6. Trading Pals
When you send a Pal, the app shows a sequence of QR codes on your screen. They contain your Pal's look and details, for example its name, your drawings and, if you used them, the selected photo crop and the shirt design. The transfer runs only directly from screen to camera, without internet and without servers. The person who scans the codes stores the Pal on their own device. So only show the codes to people you want to give the Pal to.
7. Notifications
If you allow it, the app reminds you of your Pals with notifications, for example when a Pal is hungry. The app schedules these reminders directly on your device. No push service is used and no data is transmitted for this. You can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.
8. Links to the shop
The app contains links to deguchi.shop. When you tap a link, the shop opens in your browser. From then on, the shop's privacy policy applies.
9. App stores
When you download and update the app through Google Play or the App Store, Google or Apple process data for this under their own responsibility, for example your account data. Depending on your device settings, Google and Apple may also receive anonymous crash reports and share them with us in aggregated form. The privacy policies of Google and Apple apply.
10. Children
Deguchi Pal does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. The app has no ads, no in-app purchases and no chat with strangers.
11. Your rights
Your app data is only stored on your device. You can delete it yourself at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing its data. In addition, under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). Just send us an email.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Hessischer Beauftragter für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Gustav-Stresemann-Ring 1, 65189 Wiesbaden, Germany.
12. Changes
If the app changes the way it handles data, we will update this privacy policy. The version published here applies.
