Where the idea came from

I was watching Great Teacher Onizuka (1999), and Onizuka wears a shirt with the green emergency exit man on it. I thought it was cool right away. You could not buy it anywhere, so I bleached a shirt, cut it up and sewed it myself. It was crooked, but it was still cool. Right away I got good feedback from friends, but also from strangers.

The man on the sign

You see the little green man every day. He was drawn by Yukio Ota, a designer from Japan, in 1979. It took him several drafts until one was right. Today his little man runs towards the exit in almost every building in the world.

Yukio Ota passed away in August 2026. We now wear his man on our chest and think that is a pretty good place for him.

  • Run slowly.

We run along, just slowly. Not everything has to work right away, and most things did not work the first time for us either.

  • Made by hand.

Every design here comes from our own hands. That is why nothing looks perfectly straight.

  • Not entirely serious.

A warning sign as a shirt is a good contrast to the mainstream.

Where we are headed

We are just getting started. Right now the shirts are printed on demand, because we cannot afford our own production yet. That is exactly what we want to change. Once this first collection takes off, we will find a real manufacturer, with our own cuts and better fabrics. Every shirt you buy now gets us a step closer. Slowly, but we will get there.
